Police in Turkey examining all the possibilities in the alleged killing of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi have apparently expanded their search.

Unidentified Turkish officials believe his body could have been disposed of in a neighbouring forest or on farmland.

Mr Khashoggi vanished after entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on the 2nd of October, where Turkish officials claim he was killed.

Saudi Arabian top brass have denied any knowledge of what transpired in the consulate or what happened to Jamal Khashoggi.

Forensic samples taken from the Saudi consulate and the consul’s abode during investigations this week are being tested for a match with Mr Khashoggi’s DNA.

When asked about the recording, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo strongly denied having listened to it. Other sources are implying that Turkish authorities confirm that the recordings were disclosed to Mr. Mike Pompeo.

In fact, Mr Pompeo has emphatically criticized ABC News, which had earlier cited a senior Turkish official as stating that he had been given access to the recording.

Turkish authorities have been saying all along that they have audio and video evidence of Mr Khashoggi’s murder. If these claims are true, then why have they not been made public?

The unfortunate event has caused significant tension between Riyadh and its Western allies. US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and Liam Fox UK’s International Trade Secretary have pulled out of a major investment summit in Riyadh next week. This conference is being hosted by Saudi Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salman to endorse his reform agenda.

However, a number of industry stalwarts like Pepsi and EDF – are still planning to go despite mounting pressure for a boycott.
