Michael Douglas #MeToo Allegations | Catherine Zeta-Jones’ Interrogates Him Front Of Their Kids
“My children and I were deeply shocked by those accusations,” the actress said of a former employee’s claim that her spouse masturbated in front of her through a script consultation. “And I was devastated about where my absolute ethics lie.”
Almost a year after her husband was a target of these sexual harassment allegations by a former employee, Catherine Zeta-Jones is opening up about what she had to contend with being a supporter of the #MeToo movement.
In January, Susan Braudy, a reporter and author who operated with Douglas’s production company in the late 1980s, alleged that the actor once masturbated blatantly in her presence during a script meeting at his residence. She also accused him of making vulgar jokes and remarks about her body during their time working together. In an announcement at the time, Douglas termed Braudy’s claim “an unfortunate and whole fabrication.” Talking with The Sunday Times, Zeta-Jones, who has been wedded to Douglas for eighteen years, said, “Our family is profoundly distressed by those accusations. And I was distraught about where my high morals lie.”

Zeta-Jones recognized the irony of her situation to the Times: she’s a #MeToo supporter who believes women usually when they come out with their version of events along with accusations, but she does not have faith in these particular allegations against her husband. “It was indeed a tough position for me and, in the depth of it all, it was nasty,” the actress said. Zeta-Jones added that Douglas expressed to her and his kids “that there is no truth in this story and that time will reveal.”
