Magistrate Judge Emma Arbuthnot Authorizes Mallya’s Extradition

Vijay Mallya, erstwhile Member of Rajya Sabha and business tycoon is wanted in India on charges of fraud and money laundering amounting to about Rs 9,000 crore (US$ 12 billion). The 62-year-old Mallya, former Kingfisher Airlines boss, has been on bail since his arrest on an extradition warrant in April 2017. A special security cell has been kept organized at the jail located in central Mumbai.

Chief Magistrate Judge Emma Arbuthnot at the Westminster Magistrates’ Court ruled that Mallya can be extradited to India to stand trial on the charges brought by the CBI and ED.
