What can I find on this blog?

Here we share with you a collection of recipes gathered from all corners of the internet, and maybe a magazine article or cookbook along the way, all tried and tested in the Paandu kitchen, a summary and quick review of each recipe, a list of ingredients and tools you will need, as well as a few tips and tricks along the way.

What kind of recipes can I find here?

I am a simple home cook. I do not have any cutting edge culinary expertise, delicate cake decorating talent or advanced bread making skills, just a love for baking, cooking, and rustling up new dishes from whatever is lurking in my fridge! I love trying different recipes all the time, learning techniques and hopefully acquiring a useful skill along the way. Sometimes things work out, sometimes they don’t, but I always enjoy every single minute I spend in the kitchen. It is a place of great calm and joy to me. The recipes we curate for you are straightforward, family friendly dishes you can whip up with ease by yourself, or even with your kids! You’re never too old or too young to learn and enjoy cooking.

Who’s cooking?

My name is Dina, and I was born in one country, raised in another and now living in a third. I grew up in Amsterdam surrounded by many different cuisines, my mother’s vast collection of recipe books, hand written notebooks and her honest, good home cooking that ranged from feather light choux buns, to hearty lasagna, simple marble cake, savoury cheese and onion breads, and robust regional specialties that reflect my own heritage and that of the country I was raised in. I must have been about 9 when my mother taught me how to make my first cookies (Sri Lankan style coconut crunchies) and 11 when she taught me my first real dish (traditional Sindhi mutton curry).
