Maria Sharapova strolled straight past security as she gave a pal a hug before half-heartedly showing her pass.
Sharapova, is the No 30 seed in Melbourne at this year’s Australian Open.
The incident occurred when she was making her way to Margaret Court Arena for her second round Australian Open matchup against Rebecca Peterson. This is one of the last matches in the women’s round of 64.
The former Wimbledon champion was in an upbeat mood and rightfully so after breezing past Brit Harriet Dart in the first round 6-0 6-0.
Sharapova wasn’t the only player to have a story to tell involving security at the Australian Open today, though. However from her viewpoint it was quite insulting as the security guard apparently didn’t recognize her!
