Chicago PD Exchange Fire with Offenders | 100 arrested, 13 officers Injured amidst the Vandalism that took over the Downtown
Police in Chicago reported that hundred people were taken intocustody and 13 officers were injured after vandalism took control. Smashed windows, looted shops and clashes with police is what the residents of Chicago woke upto early Monday morning.
The epicentre of all this mahen is Chicago’s Magnificent Mile shopping district and other parts of the city’s downtown.
About four hundred officers were dispatched to Chicago’s downtown area after seeing posts on facebook and twitter encouraging a “caravan” of cars to engage in looting, Chicago PD Superintendent David Brown said at a news conference Monday.
At one point, gunshots were also fired at police and officers returned fire.
No officers were wounded by crossfire, but Brown reported that a security guard and a civilian were hospitalized in critical condition after being hit by stray bullets.
Brown said the social media posts may have been triggered by an incident earlier in the day in which officers wounded a twenty-year-old man with a long criminal record who shot at them. A Facebook video later went viral falsely claiming that police had shot and killed a 15-year-old boy.
