CIA Chief Haspel To Expose The Truth About Khashoggi’s Death | Find Out If There Was A US Cover Up
CIA Director Gina Haspel has decided to break her silence and will give a closed-door briefing to leaders of several U.S. Senate committees on Tuesday. The killing of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi has raised too many eyebrows and the spiralling speculations of the US factor in this conspiracy are not headed the right direction.
Some legislators were annoyed that Haspel did not participate in a Senate briefing by Trump administration officials last week on Khashoggi’s death at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul. Other interpret her absconding from this crucial meeting could have deeper implications.
The CIA’s assessment of the evidence led them to the conclusion that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman ordered the killing of Khashoggi. Khashoggi was a critic of the Saudi government and had become a real irritant. All the evidence examined by the CIA could probably be highlighting this truth as the motive.
The Wall Street Journal was the first to report about Haspel’s intention to conduct a briefing.
At last week’s briefing, Mike Pompeo (Secretary of State) and Jim Mattis (Defence Secretary) said there was no firm evidence pinning the crown prince behind the killing. They then went on to urge senators not to demote ties with Saudi Arabia over the event.
Republican & Democratic leaders of the Senate Foreign Relations, Armed Services and Appropriations committees will be part of Haspel’s briefing, as reported by reliable sources. Apparently, the Senate Intelligence Committee had been already briefed by the CIA chief.
A Senate informant said Senate leaders would also be part of the briefing, which is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. ET.
