Philadelphia Police SWAT Officer Shot Dead – Veteran SWAT Cpl. James O’Connor was shot dead while serving a warrant to a homicide suspect on Friday morning in Philadelphia’s Frankford neighborhood.
O’Connor had served as a Philadelphia police officer for 23-years and was a respected veteran of the force. He is survived by his wife and 2 children, including a son who is an acting Philadelphia police officer.
The incident occurred when SWAT Cpl. James O’Connor alongwith a team arrived at a home on Bridge Street near Duffield Street to serve a homicide warrant. This is in the Frankford neighborhood and the time was 5:51 a.m. when someone opened fire through a closed door on the second floor, as informed by Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw. The veteran corporal was struck in the shoulder and was rushed to Temple University Hospital where he was declared dead at 6:09 a.m., he was 46 years old.

The SWAT Team was looking to arrest a 2019 homicide and were successful in taking the said person into custody.
Soon after the shooting, a formidable police presence was noticed outside a home in that block. The location is close to the SEPTA’s Frankford Transportation Center.
