Melbourne marks 200 days in lockdown as Victoria records 57 new cases : Premier Daniel Andrews has reassured Victorians the “system is working” despite the state recording a spike in COVID-19 infections today.

Victoria recorded 57 new local cases of coronavirus today, with 54 linked to known outbreaks and 44 in isolation.

Mr Andrews said while 57 cases appeared like “a very big number” the bulk of these cases had been isolating during their infectious period.

“The overwhelming majority of these are in isolation for his or her infectious period, that’s exactly what we would like ,” he said.
