Why are Xiaomi’s Redmi 6 phones the best value today?

Xiaomi’s Redmi 6 phones will make you repent that you paid so much for your present phone.

Xiaomi’s Redmi series smart phones are irrationally popular in India, & for good reason: These phones offer decent specs for an astoundingly low price.

On Wednesday, the establishment launched 3 new phones in this series: The Redmi Six Pro, the Redmi Six & the Redmi Six A. These aren’t flagships & their specs (though pretty good) won’t wow you since Android has made everything standard, but in terms of what you get for the value, they’re probably peerless.

First, the premium verison. Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro boasts itself of a 5.84”, F HD+ (2,280 x 1,080), top of the line display, a Snap dragon 6 2 5 processor, a 12 / 5-megapixel dual camera & a four thousand MAH battery. It comes in two memory brackets: The 3GB/32GB variant costs 10,999 rupees ($153) in India, while the 6GB/64GB version costs 12,999 rupees ($181).

Yeah, you could buy a single Samsung Galaxy Note 9 or buy aprrox. 6 of these babies instead. Or, for a more fair comparison, the Moto G6, which has very similar specs but a weaker processor & a smaller battery, starts at 13,999 rupees ($195) in India.

Then there’s the Redmi 6, which has a more modest 5.45-inch HD+ (1,440×720) screen (no notch on this one) & Helio P22 processor, but still rocks a dual 12/5-megapixel rear camera. The 3GB/32GB variant costs 7,999 rupees ($112) while the version with the same amount of RAM & 64GB of storage costs 9,499 rupees ($133).

Lastly, the entry-level Redmi 6A has an identical screen & processor as the Redmi 6, but only has a single, 13-megapixel camera on the back & a 3,000mAh battery. The 2GB/16GB version costs 5,999 rupees ($84) while the 2GB/32GB version costs 6,999 rupees ($98).

All 3 phones come with Android 8.1 Oreo, all three have a triple-card slot (1 for MicroSD & 2 SIM slots) & Dual VoLTE support. All have a headset jack, & all besides the Redmi 6A have a fingerprint beam on the back.

The entry-level & medium-range smartphone markets are tremendously competitive, but Xiaomi has once again raised the bar (or dropped it, depending on your standpoint) when it comes to pricing. The prices, according to the company, are introductory: They will stay in place for 2 months & could increase post that.

The Redmi 6 Pro/6/6A will be launched for retail sales across platforms on Sept 11/Sept. 10/Sept. 19, respectively.
