India Tour Of Australia 2018 | Manish Kriplani From Gabba On Ian Healy’s Comments About Virat Kohli

Team India Captain Virat Kohli, who is gunning to become the 1st Indian Skipper to win a Test series in Australia, has stretched an olive branch by proclaiming that he won’t seek to start any on-field spats. Kohli asserted that he has matured and has become a calmer version of himself now. Australian legend Ian Healy, who has been a critic of Indian skipper’s on-field mannerisms, has also observed and accepted that Kohli is quite humble now. “He’s learned to play with more humility and respect nowadays.

During the blistering 2017 Test series between Australia and India, Kohli had vowed that he was no longer going to maintain a façade of friendship with any of the Australian players. Kohli later was heard clarifying that those comments were blown out of proportion but there was no beating around the bush about the obvious bad blood at that point in time.

Ian Healy condemned Kohli’s behaviour and the charged-up Indian instantly countered by referencing an incident from nearly 20 years back, when Healy was banned for showing dissent during a Test. Ian Healy found himself in a bit of a situation then “as people who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones at others”.

But recently Ian Healy has observed that Kholi has been playing more respectfully and has kept to the ethics of the game while his character has become a lot calmer. These are the qualities and rightfully so, of a great player.

Ian Healy also commented about the Australian team and was hopeful that they will also show similar improvements.

The Indian tour of Australia has been eagerly awaited by fans from both countries. Many consider this tour equivalent to The Ashes.

It will be interesting to see how Ian Healy’s changed opinion about Virat’s volatile behaviour has an impact in this series.
