Six people have been detained as part of a initial investigation into a alleged plan to attack French President Emmanuel Macron, an official close to those conducting the probe said.
The unnamed source said French secret service arrested the six on Tuesday on suspicion of undertaking an “vague and loosely-formed” plan for “vicious action” against the president.

The suspected perpetrators were arrested in three isolated areas of France: Isere, southeast of Lyon; Moselle, on the edge of the German and Luxembourg border; and in Ille-et-Vilaine, which is situated in the northwest near the city of Rennes.
It was not explicitly clear what the connection between those arrested was or how they were communicating with one another.
In an interview which was made public on Sunday, Macron cautioned of the threat from far-right movements across Europe, saying complacency during the 1930s was what paved the way for the upsurge of Hitler in Germany and Mussolini in Italy.
