Gunman is confirmed dead after firing at unsuspecting citizens at a Southern California bar
Twelve people are also confirmed killed after the gunman opened fire at Thousand Oaks country-music bar in Southern California late Wednesday, as reported by the authorities.
Initial investigation on this ongoing crime scene have revealed that the suspect, who as it appears acted alone, was also confirmed dead.
Hundreds of mid week partiers were at Borderline Bar & Grill in the city of Thousand Oaks when the initial gunshots were heard, as reported by Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Garo Kuredjian. Police acted on a call about the firing at around 11:20 p.m. local time, he said. Ventura County Sheriff Geoff Dean described the scene as horrific with blood everywhere.
An eyewitness told TV reporters at the scene that he was inside the bar along with his son just when the shooter started firing. He shot the front doorman first and then he shot the cashier who was just a young girl, as narrated by the eye witness.
The suspect also went down inside the bar following the incident but is yet to be identified, as reported by Mr. Dean.
Approximately 10 to 12 people were injured and taken to nearby hospitals and many more with insignificant injuries were seen fleeing the scene.
He said there was reason to believe at this stage that the shooting was linked to terrorism.
Thousand Oaks Country-Music Bar Shooting
Many students from Pepperdine University were at this Thousand Oaks bar during the shooting, as posts on Twitter have revealed.
Thousand Oaks is a small city with a population of about 130,000 and is situated about 40 miles west of Los Angeles. The bar has hosted an event called “College Country Night” on this ill-fated Wednesday evening.
