Despite withdrawals from Rose Namajunas, Amanda Nunes, Khabib Nurmagomedov, and the absence of quite a few international fighters, he has put out a loaded card for the UFC 249 event.
UFC 249 has had a crazy number of pre-event buys
According to Yahoo Sports, Dana White says that the upcoming Ferguson vs Gaethje event has broken all records for pre event buys.
As of Thursday, the pre-buys had doubled the buys of UFC 244, 245, 247, and 248 in overseas locations like Australia and Canada.
The fight card on Pay Per View is $64.95. Yet the sales have been phenomenal. The numbers are especially shocking, as unemployment is peaking while companies retrench or follow the ‘last in-first out’ policy to balance their books. Over 33 million Americans have lost thier jobs and filed for unemployment benefits in the last 2 months.
Under the scenario some internet sources have suggested that a limited edition of free streaming slots will become available closer to the fight times.
Dana White believes that these pre-buy numbers showcase the thirst for sports that has built up amongst fans all over the globe. The MLS & NBA seasons are suspended. Soccer leagues across Europe too, are on hold.
For the UFC this windfall comes at the right time as they have suffered huge losses in making the event happen.
