Claiming the Dabangg 3 title song hurts religious sentiments, Hindu Janjagruti Samiti has asked CBFC to not grant the censor certificate to Dabangg3.
The CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) has received a letter seeking removal of the clips showing Hindu holy men doing western moves as they dance, and to revoke the censor certificate in case the scenes are removed.
The petition was filed by the Maharashtra and Chattisgarh branch of Hindu Janjagruti Samiti.
The organisation has claimed that a portion in Hud Hud Dabangg shows sadhus clad in saffron, dancing with guitars in their hands.
In their view this is an attempt to insult the Hindu sentiment and culture.
Twitter was quick to pick up this trend and #BoycottDabangg3 was on top India trends.
However Salman Khans fans were prompt enough to ensure #AwaitingDabangg3 also featured on the top trends.
Produced by Salman, Arbaaz Khan and Nikhil Dwivedi, directed by Prabhu Dheva, Dabangg 3 also features Sonakshi Sinha, Mahesh Manjrekar, Saiee Manjrekar, Arbaaz Khan, Mahie Gill, Dimple Kapadia and Kannada star Sudeep.
Dabangg3 is scheduled to hit big screens on December 20.
